Per NHL.com’s press release:

adidas Hockey Announces New Sustainable NHL Jerseys

• Made with recycled materials, new ADIZERO Primegreen jerseys are now the authentic jersey of the NHL
• The new jerseys are another piece of adidas’ ongoing mission to End Plastic Waste
• Season will mark first time all 32 teams wear jerseys made from recycled materials on ice

PORTLAND, OR – 09/27/2021 – This season, adidas hockey formally begins its efforts to “End Plastic Waste” and reuse plastics with its introduction of ADIZERO Primegreen Authentic NHL jerseys for all 32 NHL teams. Made with an adidas’ innovation Primegreen: a series of high-performance materials containing a minimum of 50% recycled content, ADIZERO Primegreen Authentic NHL jerseys will make their on-ice debut on opening night of the 2021-22 season on Tuesday, Oct. 12.

It will be the first time that all 32 NHL teams will take the ice wearing team jerseys made from recycled materials.

“We know that plastic waste is a mounting problem, and we need to innovate the ways in which we produce our products,” explained Dan Near, Sr. Director adidas Hockey. “The new ADIZERO Primegreen NHL jerseys are an incredible example of how we’re bringing that idea to life.”

“For more than a decade, the NHL has remained steadfast in its commitment to reduce our environmental impact across different facets of our business,” said Brian Jennings, NHL Chief Branding Officer and Senior Executive Vice President. “We are proud to have a partner in adidas who is implementing forward-thinking innovation that addresses some of the world’s pressing ecological challenges and is a fellow steward in the preservation of the game.”

Each team jersey will maintain its classic stripping and logo, while boasting dimensional embroidery that draws attention to their sustainable materials, and a two-layer twill that underscores the product’s authenticity.

This Fall, the ADIZERO Primegreen Authentic NHL jerseys will be available in all 32 team colorways at adidas.com, NHLShop.com, NHLShop.ca, the new NHL Shop flagship store in New York City and in official NHL team stores.

Since 2012, adidas has been developing and introducing innovations that reduce the company’s overall carbon footprint – specifically the use of plastic – as part of its goal to completely eliminate the use of virgin polyesters by 2024. The ADIZERO Primegreen Authentic NHL jerseys expands on the successful launch of the ADIZERO Authentic Parley NHL jerseys featuring repurposed and upcycled materials that
were worn in the 2019 Honda NHL All-Star Game in San Jose, Calif.
