Eddie Genborg earns praise after scoring his first goal for Timra IK

As noted on Tuesday, Red Wings prospect Eddie Genborg scored a goal in Timra IK’s 5-2 win over Genborg’s previous team, Linkopings HC (via Red Wings Prospects on Twitter).

Playing on Timra’s first line, Genborg, a 2025 2nd round pick, chipped home a bouncing puck in front of the opposition net:

Detroit Hockey Now’s Bob Duff took note of some Swedish praise for Genborg from both his teammate Jonathan Dahlen (who scored a hat trick on Tuesday; Dahlen is an SHL star player), as well as an SHL analyst…

Two games into his SHL tenure with Timra, the compliments keep on flowing about the game of 2025 Red Wings second-round draft pick Eddie Genborg.

“I have a weakness for Eddie Genborg’s unyielding and intense play,” said Swedish TV analyst and former AHL defenseman Sanny Lindstrom.

He scored his first goal of the season as Timra whipped Linköping 5-2. Genborg spent the previous three seasons with Linköping.

“It was a little bounce that I got a touch on,” Genborg told Swedish website Aftonbladet of his goal. “You have to have a little luck.”

According to his teammates, luck has nothing to do with Genborg’s success on the ice.

“An incredibly nice player,” Timra veteran forward Jonathan Dahlen said. “He is incredibly talented. It’s fun with the younger guys. You learn some new sayings and stuff, so you feel a little old. But you get a lot of energy from them. Eddie is awesome.”

And the latter version of Aftonbladet’s Jonathan Knetka’s article offers the following:

18-year-old prospect Eddie Genborg, new from Linköping, started the turn by whisking in 1-1 on the power play at the end of the first period.

“There was a little bouncing puck that I got a touch on. You should have a little luck,” says the forward, humbly.

His first goal at his new team came after a controversial penalty–with a strong protest in the Saab Arena as a result.

“It’s part of the sport. I tried not to think about it during the game. There’s not much to do about it,” Genborg said.

It was a special match for Genborg, who comes from Trollhattan, but has spent the last three years with Linkoping.

“I’ve almost been nervous ever since I saw that we were meeting them here in the second set of games. So it was a bit nerve-wracking before the game,” he said.
