Roughly translated: Axel Sandin Pellikka to leave Sweden for North America after this SHL season

Via Red Wings Prospects on Twitter…

Axel Sandin Pellikka’s agent, Claes Elefalk, told NSD.com that ASP will leave Skelleftea AIK after this SHL season, and Hockeysverige.se’s Rasmus Kagstrom provides us with a peek behind the paywall:

Confirmed: the big prospect leaves after this season

This season will be, unsurprisingly, Axel Sandin Pellikka’s last in Skelleftea AIK’s jersey.

Instead, a move to Detroit awaits, agent Claes Elefalk confirmed to NSD.

“They’re not going to go into that he’s playing another year at home,” he told the newspaper.

In an interview with NSD, Claes Elefalk tells us that there is no chance that Axel Sandin Pellikka will stay with Skelleftea after this season.

“It will not happen. It’s always a battle when we agents try to convince the teams over there that it would be wise to give players another year in Sweden because they usually want to develop the guys in their environment. It was the same with him, and they (Detroit) will not be okay with the fact that he’s playing another year at home,” Elefalk told the newspaper.

Signed a contract after SHL championship

The 19-year-old big talent signed an NHL contract with the Detroit Red Wings after the Swedish Championship gold with Skelleftea this past spring. This season he’s been loaned to the reigning champions by the Red Wings, where he’s posted 22 points (8 goals + 14 assists) in 30 games in the SHL.

Axel Sandin Pellikka was selected in the first round as the 17th player overall by the Detroit Red Wings. The 19-year-old debuted with Skelleftea during the 2022-2023 season and has since registered 45 points in 91 games with the team.
