The Red Wings held an optional morning skate ahead of tonight’s game against the Tampa Bay Lightning (7 PM EST on FanDuel SportsNet Detroit/FanDuel SportsNet Sun/97.1 FM), and Patrick Kane did not take part. Nor did Cam Talbot, who tends to skip morning skates when he starts games.
Again, the Red Wings sit 6 points ahead of the Wings in the Eastern Conference standings, with the Lightning holding a game in hand, so Detroit needs to avenge their 5-1 loss to Tampa Bay a week ago today.
After the morning skate, the Red Wings’ players and coach spoke with the media.
Tampa’s coach, Jon Cooper, won’t speak to the media until later today as the Bolts won’t hold a morning skate after winning a 4-3 overtime decision over the Chicago Blackhawks on Friday night, yielding a back-to-back situation for the team.
