The Detroit Red Wings hope to earn their first win tonight against the Nashville Predators (7 PM EDT on Bally Sports Detroit/Bally Sports South/97.1 FM), and the Predators are equally optimistic that they’ll bounce back from an opening-night loss to Dallas.
We know that the Wings will start Cam Talbot in goal, and that the Wings have recalled Justin Holl from Grand Rapids; we don’t know whether the Predators’ Juuse Saros is healthy, though we should probably determine that based upon Nashville’s morning skate.
The Predators’ game crew posted Tweets from Detroit and LCA first…

And MLive’s Ansar Khan, and the Hockey News’s Connor Eargood, reported that Jeff Petry was skating before the Wings’ morning skate:

Petry is skating but is out with an injury that has him listed as day to day. pic.twitter.com/J0r9qDmQp4
Jeff Petry is skating at this morning’s Red Wings morning skate. Not expected to play tonight, but a good sign for his health after leaving Thursday’s game with an upper body injury.

As Red Wings play-by-play announcer Ken Kal notes, tonight’s referees are Chris Rooney and Morgan McPhee; Trent Knorr and Andrew Smith will work the lines:

Meanwhile, in the AHL, Sebastian Cossa was named the 2nd star of the night league-wide for a 35-save shutout over the course of the Grand Rapids Griffins’ 3-0 victory over the Milwaukee Admirals, Nashville’s AHL affiliate:
