Updated at 4:05 PM: Of Michael Brandsegg-Nygard related note from The Athletic’s Max Bultman and Norran.se’s Robin Lindgren:
As I wrote after prospect tournament, Brandsegg-Nygård seemed to prefer the SHL path if he wasn’t in NHL https://t.co/Bu0LmLuUZT

No surprise at this translation, given that Brandsegg-Nygard spent all summer telling the Swedish and Norwegian press that his first choice, should he not make the NHL, was to head back to Skelleftea:
Yesterday, Sunday, Michael Brandsegg-Nygård was told by Steve Yzerman that they wanted to keep him in the AHL, but “MBN” and his agent are said to have insisted on playing in the SHL.
“Skellefteå has a very good team and it is better for my development to play in the SHL”
It was ultimately Brandsegg-Nygard’s decision, and he made the right one for himself.
Update: From IceHockeyGifs:
Sounds like Detroit 'really' wanted Michael Brandsegg-Nygård in AHL.

MBN talks (on norwegian hockey pod TV 2 Hockeyprat) about what sounds like a fairly tense meeting with Wings brass where he & agent stood their ground on a return to SHL. https://t.co/PwtlbdzAuo
MBN said SHL feels like a good next step for him, and the possibility of being on a contender with aspirations of winning the SHL championship seemed to be a big draw.

Feedback from Detroit was "NHL body already, NHL shot already, smart enough, explosive enough" but could work more on "lateral movement, pivots etc." and, unsurprisingly, to focus on being good all over the ice, a "two-way forward". pic.twitter.com/tDR59QtYSI
