The #RedWings have signed Moritz Seider to a seven-year contract with an AAV of $8,550,000. pic.twitter.com/WuZRSGRC3z
Here come the insiders…
Seider goes one lower on term, which keeps the AAV under Dylan Larkin as #LGRW high-water mark on cap. https://t.co/bzACVhzBOK

Moritz Seider signs a seven-year extension with the #redwings carrying an $8.55M AAV — taking one year less than the maximum allowable in order to stay under the $8.7M made by teammate Dylan Larkin.

Moritz Seider has re-signed with the Detroit Red Wings to a seven-year deal with an AAV of $8.55M. Right now, it looks like as a good deal for Seider. But if he returns to his form from his rookie season, it will end up being a good deal for both sides. pic.twitter.com/UmyU5uMJhA

The locals, too:
After missing the first day of Red Wings training camp without him, the deal is done: Moritz Seider has signed a 7-year extension with an $8.55M AAV.

Red Wings are officially 3/3 on RFAs, and right up against the cap, with just under $200k to spare in cap remaining.
It's good value on Seider, but I've never liked it when teams have hard internal cap hits based on what someone else makes. Always felt like backwards thinking to me from a player perspective, each raise for someone else helps the next person down the line.
— Sean Shapiro (@seanshapiro) September 19, 2024
Seider's extension will expire in 2031, same year as Larkin's current contract.
— Max Bultman (@m_bultman) September 19, 2024
I'm sure Detroit would have preferred 8 years here, but getting Raymond and Seider off the same contract timeline is ultimately not the worst consolation either
Lays his body on the line like few players in the NHL. Second in NHL in blocked shots, 12th among defensemen in hits over his young career. Hasn't missed a game.

"It’s always a big dream for every player to be in a franchise for a long time," Seider said.
Dream realized. https://t.co/A1NDHsZcbD

We know:
Given his age, the fact he shoots right, his scoring, his ability to maul people, the fact he’s never missed a game, and where contracts are headed, imo this is a huge win for Detroit. https://t.co/ec9WUiaaTo

It’s been an eventful week for the @DetroitRedWings, who followed up inking Lucas Raymond to an eight-year extension Monday by signing Moritz Seider to a seven-year contract today. 🐙

And a know-it-all…
Moritz Seider, signed 7x$8.6M by DET, is a young defenceman who the Red Wings gave pretty brutal deployment to last season. Even accounting for that, his numbers aren't very inspiring, but the team clearly sees him as the defensive cornerstone of their blueline moving forward. pic.twitter.com/WE89yhytNk

Here are Seider's microstats from last season. Some good, some not-so-good. Had to chuck a lot of pucks out of his own end, aggressive but leaky defending the rush. Some okay puck-movement. Will be interesting to see how he's deployed and what he can do this season. pic.twitter.com/0s5AVhT49t
