Training camp Tweets of note: it begins

The Hockey News’s Sam Stockton reports that training camp has begun as Team Lindsay, which is constituted of amateur try-outs and a couple of the Wings’ goaltending prospects, is on the ice at Centre ICE Arena:

I’m going to try to keep this thread going with updates as the NHL groups–Team Delvecchio and Team Howe–hit the ice at 9:20 AM and 11:35 AM, respectively.

For what it’s worth, Team Lindsay always starts with video at 7:55 AM and a practice between 8:10 AM and 9:10 AM, so the Wings will rotate some youngsters in and out of the “early-morning unit.”

Teams Delvecchio and Howe practice for about 1 hour and 45 minutes, with a break for video in between two on-ice skates.

Looks like Lucas Raymond made it to Traverse City…

Here we go…

Among Detroit Hockey Now’s Kevin Allen’s notes:

In the summer of 2023, GM Steve Yzerman made it one of his objectives to improve the organization’s goaltending depth top to bottom. That’s the simplest explanation to explain why the Red Wings have nine goaltenders in training camp. Jack Campbell, Ville Husson, Alex Lyon and Cam Talbot all have NHL experience, while Sebastian Cossa and Carter Gylander are primary prospects. Gage Alexander was a 22-year-old prospect acquired from Anaheim. Jan Bednar is a Red Wings’ draft pick expected to play for Toledo this season. Landon Miller is an Ontario Hockey League goalie drafted in the fourth round last June. All of these goalies, with the exception of Lyon, are 6-foot-3 or taller. The training camp roster doesn’t roster doesn’t include Trey Augustine, the Michigan State sophomore, who is one of the organization’s Top 10 prospects.
