Dreger: Red Wings sign goalie Cam Talbot

Per TSN’s Darren Dreger:

It’s official:

Per 97.1 the Ticket:

Detroit has agreed to a two-year, $5 million deal with Cam Talbot, per Elliotte Friedman, adding the veteran goaltender to compete with Alex Lyon and Ville Husso next season.

Talbot had a .913 save percentage and a 2.50 goals against average in 54 games as the Kings’ starter last season when he went to the All-Star Game for the second time in the past three years, numbers in line with the rest of his career. He turns 37 in July.

The Red Wings had a team save percentage of .897 and allowed 3.3 goals per game last season. Lyon became the starter as the year went on, with Husso hindered by injuries and James Reimer playing the role of backup. Both Lyon and Husso are under contract through next season, while Reimer is gone.

Talbot gives the Wings a proven NHL goalie through the 2025-26 season, by which time prospect Sebastian Cossa should be ready to step into the crease in Detroit.
