Feels like an increased bit of hooting and hollering today at morning skate. Stars seem loose and feeling the good vibes today— Saad Yousuf (@SaadYousuf126) November 16, 2021

I guess you can throw this at Jamie Benn, too:

And DallasStars.com’s Kyle Shohara penned a superb game preview, noting that Dallas is 11-4-and-0 over their past 15 meetings with Detroit:

Dallas is coming off a 5-2 victory against the Philadelphia Flyers on Saturday night and brings a 5-6-2 record into the contest. Detroit (8-7-2) is capping off a back-to-back after losing 5-3 in Columbus last night.

The Red Wings have won four of their past six games (4-2-0) but dropped the opener of a four-game road trip against the Blue Jackets. Lucas Raymond and Tyler Bertuzzi co-lead the team in scoring with 17 points in 17 games.

Raymond, 19, leads NHL rookies in goals (7), power-play goals (3), points and shots (45), while ranking tied for first in assists (10) and second in power-play points (4). Selected fourth overall in the 2020 NHL Draft, Raymond became the fifth player in Red Wings history to average at least a point per game through 17 games.

The Stars snapped a two-game losing streak with their win on Saturday, which featured five different players scoring goals. Luke Glendening (one goal, one assist) and Roope Hintz (one goal, one assist) led the club with two-point performances, while 12 separate skaters recorded at least one point. Dallas scored with the man advantage to push its streak to six consecutive games with a power-play goal. The Stars have gone 7-for-16 (43.8%) on the power play over that span.

This is the first of two meetings between the Stars and Red Wings in the 2021-22 campaign. Last season, the Stars took six of the eight matchups (6-2-0) including all four at American Airlines Center.

The Stars have won four of the past five (4-1-0), seven of the past nine (7-2-0) and 11 of the past 15 (11-4-0) against the Red Wings. They’re also riding an eight-game home winning streak against the Wings, while they’ve notched points in 10 straight (8-0-2) against them at AAC. The club’s eight-game winning streak and 10-game point streak on home ice against Detroit is its second-longest active streak against one team in both categories. (Longest win and point streak: 13-0-0 in last 13 games vs. Arizona on home ice).

And if you missed it, Luke Glendening spoke with the Stars’ media corps yesterday…

As noted by the Dallas News’s Matthew DeFranks:

Glendening will play his first game against his former team on Tuesday night when the Stars host the Red Wings. Glendening spent the first eight seasons of his NHL career in Detroit before signing a two-year contract in Dallas over the summer.

Save for one year of boarding school, Glendening is a Michigan lifer: born in East Grand Rapids, went to college at Michigan, played for Grand Rapids in the AHL and then Detroit in the NHL.

“I grew up a [Red Wings] fan,” Glendening said. “I got to live out my dream of playing for them for eight years. I have a ton of respect for the people in the organization. It’s a big game for this team. I don’t want to take anything away from that. We need the two points, and that’s the goal for tomorrow.”

Glendening has scored four goals this season, tied for second-most on the team behind Tyler Seguin’s five tallies. He said his relatives “were the biggest Red Wings fans when I was there, but they might be the biggest Dallas Stars fans in Michigan now.”

After the morning skate…

When asked if he expected anything with Larkin tonight Jamie Benn answered “No, Why? “
Then said “we’ll see”.— Bruce LeVine (@BruceLeVinePuck) November 16, 2021

Update: DetroitRedWings.com’s Jonathan Mills also posted a game preview:

Dallas enters the matchup with a 5-6-2 record under coach Rick Bowness this season. Overall, the Stars rank third overall in power play percentage (29.4%). That’s a dangerous statistic for opposing defensemen. Yet, prior to the team’s 5-2 win over the Philadelphia Flyers last Saturday, Dallas averaged just 2.17 goals per contest and had yet to score more than three times in regulation.

Miro Heiskanen is the only member of the Stars with double-digit points (12) and has tallied three goals and nine assists. Tyler Seguin (5 goals and 3 assists), Joe Pavelski (4 goals and 4 assists) and Ryan Suter (1 goal and 6 assist) have also been key contributors.

Braden Holtby is off to a strong start in goal, with a save percentage of .918 in 474 minutes of action. Alongside Holtby, Anton Khudobin has made five starts and owns 91 saves across his last three games.

Preventing another Dallas scoring outburst will be important for Detroit, as Larkin noted the importance of playing a complete game in front of Thomas Greiss and Alex Nedeljkovic.

“Our goaltending’s been there every night,” Larkin said. “We rely on them big-time, but we got to make it easier. We got to find ways when they’re swarming us to get pucks out, find a way to get an offensive-zone shift to give them a breather.”

Update #2:

Q: “Do you expect anything tonight from Larkin?
Jamie Benn: “No. Why?”
Q: “He was pretty upset last year after his injury.”
Benn: “We’ll see.”— Saad Yousuf (@SaadYousuf126) November 16, 2021

Update #3:
