Tweet of note: Red Wings’ prospect tournament opener to be streamed on DetroitRedWings.com (in Michigan and Toledo)

The Detroit Red Wings’ prospect tournament begins today, and the Detroit Red Wings’ game against the Dallas Stars’ prospects will air on DetroitRedWings.com in Michigan and northwest Ohio:

Update: Detroit Hockey Now’s Kevin Allen hypes up Trey Augustine:

There is no prospect with a greater chance to have an impact than the former Michigan State goalie Augustine. With Sebastian Cossa now playing in Utah, Augustine and Michal Postava are the team’s goalies of the future.

Augustine, 21, is a technically sound, poised netminder with a quick glove hand. The biggest rub against him is that his 6-foot-1 length is below league average for goalies and he needs work on his rebound control.

That all adds up to Augustine having special status among prospects. It would be symbolic to see him in net for half of the game against Dallas today at the NHL Prospects Tournament. This marks the start of his first full season with the organization. (He did play two games for Grand Rapids last spring). Today’s game starts at 6:30 at Little Caesars Arena. It is being streamed live for Michigan residents and a small section of Ohio at DetroitRedWings.com
