The Associated Press posted a very spartan Red Wings-Stars preview ahead of tonight’s game (8:30 PM EST on FSD/FS SW/97.1 FM), and it included some interesting random stats about the Red Wings’ and Stars’ divisional records (pertinent as both teams are only playing within-division games this season):
Dallas finished 12-9-3 in division action and 19-12-3 at home a season ago. Goalies for the Stars compiled a .920 save percentage while giving up 2.4 goals on 31.4 shots per game last season.
Detroit went 9-13-1 in division play and 5-26-3 on the road in the 2019-20 season. The Red Wings averaged 3.7 penalties and 8.4 penalty minutes per game.
These stats from the Stars’ website make it sound like the Wings are heading into the proverbial hornet’s nest tonight at the American Airlines Center, too:
The Stars come into Tuesday’s matchup boasting a four-game home winning streak (4-0-0) against Detroit, while also earning points in each of the last six games (4-0-2) against them at American Airlines Center.
Dallas owns a 5-2-0 record over its last seven games against the Red Wings and has points in seven of the last 10 (6-3-1) against them.
