RED WINGS TO BEGIN 2018-19 CAMPAIGN ON THURSDAY, OCT. 4
… Detroit to Host Columbus Blue Jackets for Home Opener; Full Schedule to be Unveiled on Thursday, June 21 at 5:30 p.m. …DETROIT – The Detroit Red Wings today announced the home opener for the 2018-19 regular season, the franchise’s 93rd campaign in the National Hockey League, is set for Thursday, Oct. 4 when the Red Wings host the Columbus Blue Jackets at 7:30 p.m. at Little Caesars Arena.
The Red Wings have won five-straight home openers, including last season’s 4-2 win on Oct. 5, 2017 against Minnesota, marking the first game played at the state-of-the-art Little Caesars Arena. Detroit holds a 51-31-9-0 record all time in home openers. The Red Wings have never opened their home schedule against Columbus.
Promotions for the home opener will be announced at a later date. The complete NHL 2018-19 regular season schedule will be revealed live on NHL Network on Thursday, June 21 at 5:00 p.m.

The Red Wings are likely to be headed to southern California immediately after their own home opener.
The Anaheim Ducks announced their home opener as Oct. 8 – against the Red Wings. Anaheim is celebrating its 25th anniversary season, and to mark that milestone, Anaheim will face the Wings, who were the Ducks’ first opponent ever in Anaheim.
