Red Wings-Ducks morning skate Tweets and articles: Howard starts as Wings host desperate Ducks

The Detroit Red Wings host the Anaheim Ducks this evening (7:30 PM EST on FSD/Prime Ticket/97.1 FM) with the Ducks desperate to earn two points as they’re in the thick of a tight Western Conference playoff race.

Detroit took to the ice at Little Caesars Arena around 10:30 AM for their morning skate, per MLive’s Ansar Khan…

The Red Wings said, “Hello”…

As did DetroitRedWings.com’s Dana Wakiji:

Wakiji continued…

As did Khan:

There’s more from Wakiji as well:

#RedWings Daley appears to have suffered no lingering effects from blocking #Capitals Ovechkin’s shot as he is a full go in morning skate.

EXCITE!

After the morning skate, per Khan:

Howard is starting for tonight vs.

The Ducks took to the ice at LCA just after 11:30 AM, per the Orange County Register’s Eric Stephens…

Also of Red Wings-related note: NHL.com’s James Harding suggests that fantasy hockey poolies pick up the Red Wings’ captain on the waiver wire:

Henrik Zetterberg, C/LW, DET (44 percent): The Detroit Red Wings forward had four points (one goal, three assists) and four SOG in their 7-6 overtime loss to the New York Islanders on Friday. Then, he had one assist in a 5-4 overtime win against the Washington Capitals on Sunday to extend his point streak to three games. Zetterberg has eight points (one goal, seven assists) and three PPP in his past seven games on the first line and power-play unit with forwards Anthony Mantha (LW/RW, 38 percent) and Gustav Nyquist (C/LW/RW, 14 percent).
