According to The Athletic’s Craig Custance, the Red Wings have offered Dan Bylsma an assistant coaching job:
Believe that Dan Bylsma is weighing an offer to join Jeff Blashill’s staff. When reached, Bylsma said if he was talking to Detroit, he wouldn’t say. And if he wasn’t, he still wouldn’t say. He warned not to read anything into his comment or no comment or unwillingness to comment.

It was a good talk.

That said, Jeff Blashill and Dan Bylsma coached Team USA together at Worlds and got along great, by all accounts. Bylsma has other options but it’s a good fit. Living in west Michigan right now.

Not sure about Bylsma. It has to be someone that is excellent with young players to counter Blash for mostly his type of discipline and no selective discipline.
Makes sense for more than location. If Blash doesn’t improve the young guns that means you fire him in late Jan and eat the last year of the extension and have an interim coach in Bylsma.
I have to think bringing Dan Bylsma on as an assistant coach would be a good decision. He has experience as a head coach. Apparently he and Jeff Blashill worked well together during the World Cup. Sounds like it might be a good fit.
Not a fan of Blashill, but I’m willing to see how it works for this season…
If Bylsma can make the power play better, than why not? But he had his struggles with the PP units his last few years in Pittsville. I know he did in Buffalo also, but he really didn’t have a good team to work with.
He’s a Cup winning coach and he and Blash seem to work well together. Plus, as mentioned above, if Blash gets the boot mid-season, Bylsma can easily slide into the Interm Coach role.
