As I said on Twitter/X today, I’m not a big person for the “thoughts and prayers” request, but Andy, a.k.a. “WorldOfIsaac,” is going into hospice care after an incredibly long battle with cancer, and I think that it’s quite appropriate to ask for your thoughts and prayers for someone really wonderful:

The Detroit News’s Tony Paul wrote a superb profile of Andy:
A widely popular Detroit sports fan and social-media personality is saying his goodbyes.
Andy Isaac, who is behind the big-following @WorldofIsaac account on X (formerly Twitter), penned a heartfelt farewell to friends and fans on Tuesday as he enters hospice care following a nearly two-decade battle with cancer.
“I don’t know when my first tweet or post was but I can tell you, sadly, this is probably one of my last,” Isaac wrote on X. “Having cancer since 2006 has finally taken its toll on me, it has finally stripped me of quality of life. I have decided on hospice care. Life has been a struggle these last few months and years. I hope I can find peace in hospice.
“I hope I gave you all a positive outlook on life. I hope I made even the smallest impact.
“Be kind to each other. I love you all. Truly, I do.”
Isaac, 44, who grew up in Sterling Heights and lives in Troy, has been a fixture on X since the early days of the platform. He originally started a blog in 2006 to chronicle his battle against Hodgkin’s lymphoma; it originally was just a way to keep friends and family updated about his condition without having to tell everyone one by one. According to a profile by The Athletic in 2019, he first went into remission in 2007, shifting much of his online voice toward Detroit sports takes.
He grew a very sizeable audience on X of over 88,000 followers, many of whom enjoyed his takes on his favorite teams, including the Lions, Pistons, Tigers, Red Wings and all things Michigan State, his alma mater. His followers included numerous members of the local and national media, and even some celebrities.
Isaac’s post Thursday drew millions of impressions, and thousands of replies, including hearts from the accounts of all four of the major professional teams in Detroit.
Continued; thoughts and prayers, please.
