This one is a bit of a head-scratcher. I’d imagine that the Red Wings offered Shayne Gostisbehere similar money and term, but I guess that he wanted to go back to Carolina and win:

My best guess is that Gostisbehere wanted to exit, stage left, and get more term. I guess he settled for less from the Canes because of their playoff positioning.
