Nobody expects the $300 deposit

I’ve only rented a car once before in my life, so I headed to Enterprise today in my rolling deathtrap, a.k.a. my mechanically-deemed-unsafe Chrysler Pacifica, to pick up a rental car for the trip.

There were several terms and conditions which, as you might expect, popped up at the last minute, but I was a little stunned when the nice young lady at the counter told me that the red Chevy Equinox came with a $300 deposit that I had to make immediately, in addition to the rental fee to take the vehicle into my possession.

Thanks to some kind folks, I had the extra $300, but now Aunt Annie and I have approximately $118.56 in the PayPal account and $13.48 in the Venmo account with which to get up to Traverse City and settle in. That’s a pretty close shave–we can do it if we have to–but between gas and food and Wednesday’s small grocery shopping run, that money goes POOF! real quick.

As for what will happen to that $300 when it goes back into the PayPal account, it will probably cover the electric bill and the gas bill.

Again, we’re not going to make a profit on this trip–we just want to be able to cover gas and food during our time in Traverse City, and to be able to pay our utility bills when we come home. That’s it.

I had hoped to not have to ask for fundraising bucks until I got up to TC, but it appears that Enterprise had other ideas, so:

If you can lend a hand with our overall expenses, we have an old-fashioned GoFundMe here https://www.gofundme.com/f/help-george-annie-attend-prospect-tournament, you can use PayPal at https://paypal.me/TheMalikReport, Venmo at https://venmo.com/george-malik-2, Giftly by using my email, rtxg@yahoo.com, at https://www.giftly.com. And you can contact me via email if you want to send me a paper check. I’m also on Cash App under “georgeums.”

Thanks for your time, your readership and your support.
