Raising funds to cover development camp

I haven’t mentioned the f-word (fundraising) in some time now, but I’m about to embark upon a 5-day endeavor covering the Red Wings’ summer development camp downtown, and I could use a hand.

Between gas costing $3.85 a gallon, the associated costs of dry cleaning, food and miscellaneous expenses, I was hoping to ask that I might be able to raise about $500, or $100 a day.

Given that I will be writing from home (there’s a 1-hour commute of about 45 miles each way) and have no accommodations expenses, there’s no need to raise $ for that, but this week is going to cost me money, and I’d really like to break even if that is possible.

If you’re willing to lend a hand, http://paypal.me/TheMalikReport will send you to Paypal, and if you’re willing to lend a longer-term hand, my Patreon account is available here: https://www.patreon.com/themalikreport

We are going to have a longer discussion about fundraising soon, because the State of Michigan has written into law a work requirement for Medicaid recipients starting in January of 2019, and I’m about $600 a month short of being able to meet that requirement. I can’t do this job if it’s going to cost me my health insurance. :/

Anyway, it’s going to be a busy week, and I hope you enjoy the coverage. As usual, if you have any questions regarding players or want me to focus on certain individuals, please comment, talk to me on Twitter, Facebook or via email.

Off to the rink!

  1. Happy to help out. I’m particularly interested in Zadina and Veleno, but I want to know what you see in all the new prospects and also how the other guys are progressing.

  2. Funds sent your way George. C’mon people…..If you enjoy reading all of the detailed evaluations that George will be providing over the next few days, then show your appreciation and contribute a few bucks.

  3. Gas is $3.85? South Lyon is 45 miles from Detroit? All news to me. You may want to find a new route and gas station!

    1. Sorry, $2.85 at the Speedway.

The rink is 45 miles away via the shortest route to the rink. I-96 to the Lodge to the 2C exit to Grand River.

  4. That’s a very long way around. 8 mile or 7 mile to 96/275/14 will cut 10 miles off one-way. At least.
