An intriguing thought from Custance

The Athletic’s Craig Custance offered an intriguing thought while I was hacking and coughing up a lung this morning:

Detroit setting up to have lots of cap space for 2019 free agency. Vanek, Howard, Nyquist, Kronwall all come off the books, close to $18 million. Zetterberg up in the air. Obvious target for them would be Karlsson.

Not to mention an expansion team and other small market teams needing a contract, with 10 picks for 2019 already, without flipping any of the aforementioned players…or #72, they could really dump a load, so to speak
