Per the Red Wings’ Daniella Bruce:

Daniel Sprong now addressing the media. He's excited to join the Red Wings and specifically helped with scoring. He felt he improved his overall game in Seattle last year. Mentioned both goal scoring on the power play and 5 on 5. #LGRW

And EP Rinkside’s Sean Shapiro:

Daniel Sprong said he knew for a while he'd be a UFA. He would have had a strong arbitration case, Seattle wasn't wanting to go down that route.

Ditto for Carley Johnston:

Daniel Sprong on having a career year last season– says he played better defensively, physical. Offensively, he says It was nice to get some power play opportunities. "I'm a shooter." #LGRW
