DETROIT – The Detroit Red Wings today released their 2026 NHL Prospect Tournament roster and a complete tournament schedule for the event, held from Saturday, Sept. 12 to Tuesday, Sept.15 at BELFOR Training Center inside Little Caesars Arena. The team consists of 24 recent draft picks, free agent signees and tryouts who will battle against prospect teams from the Columbus Blue Jackets, Dallas Stars and Pittsburgh Penguins.
The Red Wings roster is highlighted by a pair of first-round picks: center Nate Danielson (9th overall, 2023) and left wing Carter Bear (13th overall, 2025). Danielson made his NHL debut with the Red Wings during the 2025-26 season, recording seven points (2-5-7) and four penalty minutes in 28 games. He scored his first career NHL goal and added an assist on Nov. 18 against the Seattle Kraken. Additionally, Danielson registered 15 points (3-12-15), a plus-seven rating and four penalty minutes in 18 games with the American Hockey League’s Grand Rapids Griffins in 2025-26. Bear spent the entire 2025-26 campaign with the Western Hockey League’s Everett Silvertips and ranked among the team leaders with 36 goals (1st), 41 assists (T4th), 77 points (2nd), a plus-45 rating (5th), 56 penalty minutes (5th), 16 power play goals (1st), 26 power play points (2nd), one shorthanded goal (T1st), seven game-winning goals (T1st) and 207 shots (3rd) in 53 games. He also recorded 22 points (7-15-22) in 18 postseason contests, helping the Silvertips capture the Ed Chynoweth Cup as WHL champions. Bear won a bronze medal with Team Canada at the 2026 IIHF World Junior Championship, appearing in two games.
Other roster notables include left wing Dylan James (40th overall, 2022), who recorded 32 points (21-11-32) in 40 games during his senior season at the University of North Dakota before netting two goals in two games with the Griffins; defenseman Anton Johansson (105th overall, 2022), who logged 17 points (5-12-17) in 42 games with Leksands IF in the Swedish Hockey League before adding six points (2-4-6) in eight games with the Griffins; goaltender Trey Augustine (41st overall, 2023), who posted a 24-9-1 record with a 2.11 goals-against average, a 0.929 save percentage and three shutouts in 34 games as a junior at Michigan State University before making two appearances between the pipes with the Griffins; and forward Théo Rochette, who signed a one-year, entry-level contract with the Red Wings on June 14 after tallying 43 points (22-21-43) in 46 games with Lausanne HC in Switzerland’s highest professional league during the 2025-26 campaign.
Thirteen of the 24 players on the roster are former Red Wings draft picks, with the two first-round picks in addition to a pair of second-round picks, two third-round selections, three fourth-round picks, two six-round picks and two seventh-round picks. The drafted prospects range in age from three 18-year-olds (Luka Arkko, Myles Brosnan and Adam Levac) to 24-year-old Kienan Draper.
Participating teams will play three games, with the Red Wings taking on the Stars on Saturday, Sept. 12 at 6:30 p.m., the Penguins on Sunday, Sept. 13 at 7:00 p.m. and the Blue Jackets on Tuesday, Sept. 15 at 2:00 p.m.
