Since Aunt Annie came home from her second hospitalization, she’s been bed-bound, and thusly, I’ve been taking care of all of her needs for the past week.
Some days have been better than others; today started at 5 AM, and while I was able to sneak away to Walgreens for 45 minutes, I’ve otherwise been engaged in taking care of AA, who had her first physical therapy appointment today.
She’s still on heavy antibiotics for a UTI every 6 hours, so we get up at 6 AM to make sure that she’s taking her medication on time; thus far, she’s responded well to the antibiotics, and her “mental fog” has been more and more intermittent.
But things are difficult here, and we’ve got some financial issues as well.
First, it cost about $300 for two wheelchair van rides home and one LYFT ride because the second driver refused to let me ride with my aunt;
Second, we’ve spent over $100 on medical supplies, and that chunk of change slowly grows each and every day;
Third, and I’ve been too busy to mention this, the blog server fees are due at the end of the month.
Worse, keeping TMR running is going to cost about $600, between the Bluehost fees and Jetpack subscription.
Add on top of that the fact that my paycheck for this month is going to be $300 short because AA spent a week in the hospital, which the State of Michigan views as an unpaid vacation for me, and $300 short for next month, because Medicaid views any hospitalization as a non-paid period for a caregiver (even though I spent every minute of both of AA’s hospital stays with her).
Then there’s the $1,500 in property taxes that we’re trying to assuage–between AA’s Social Security check and my State of Michigan check, we make enough to pay our bills, but we don’t have any savings–and we have only about a third of the total raised.
Oh, and we’ve also got a $260 copay for using the ER twice from Medicare.
Thusly, the GoFundMe total is somewhat unreliable. We had to pay up front for the wheelchair van, the medical supplies, and five ride-share services to pick up prescriptions the pharmacy won’t deliver over the course of the summer.
LYFT has been our lifeline because we don’t have a car, but it’s $50-60 to simply get to Walgreens and back, and that adds up, too.
Long story long, we’ve got a boatload of bills to pay, including keeping the blog running, and my friends and family are pretty much tapped out.
It’d be fantastic if we could get the blog paid for by the end of the month, and the wheelchair van stuff repaid, so we can put that money toward our taxes. Maybe we can get the taxes a third paid and go from there.
But all of this requires me to ask you for help, because I have nowhere else to turn.
