- In the “Stuck Behind the Paywall” category, Marco Kasper gave an interview to the Kronen Zeitung’s Martin Quendler, and the teaser promises that he talks about his summer training, his desire to earn a contract extension with the Red Wings, the fact that he splits time between his home in Klagenfurt, Sweden, where his girlfriend Tyra is from, and Detroit.

2. Also, former Red Wings goaltending prospect Jake Paterson is 32 now, and he spent the majority of his career in the AHL and ECHL, but the OHL’s Kitchener Rangers have just hired Paterson as their goaltending coach and video coach:
The Kitchener Rangers announced today that former Rangers goaltender Jake Paterson has joined the club’s coaching staff as Goalie Coach and Video Coach.
“Jake will be a great addition to our organization and fits the mold of our last two goalie coaches who ended up being very successful and moving onto professional hockey,” said Kitchener Rangers General Manager Mike McKenzie. “He has experience playing in the league, playing pro and is also a Rangers alumus. He understands what it takes and the highs and lows of being a goaltender at this level. We are excited to welcome back Jake to the Rangers.”
Paterson returns to Kitchener after a playing career that included time in the Ontario Hockey League, American Hockey League, ECHL, Norway (Sparta Sarpsborg) and Slovakia (HKM Zvolen). A native of Mississauga, Ontario, Paterson was selected by the Detroit Red Wings in the third round, 80th overall, of the 2012 NHL Entry Draft.
Paterson played in the OHL with the Saginaw Spirit and Kitchener Rangers, appearing in 26 regular-season games for Kitchener during the 2014-15 season and posting a 14-10-2 record with a 2.37 goals-against average, .929 save percentage and two shutouts. He was also named to Hockey Canada’s World Junior’s Team in 2013 and 2014, finishing in fourth place on both occasions.
In addition to his playing experience, Paterson brings a coaching background that includes work with goaltenders at the professional, junior and minor hockey levels. Through Paterson Goaltending, he has provided on-ice instruction, game review, video coaching, preparation and performance coaching for athletes across the region.
