Summertime fundraising for property taxes

It’s been almost a week since I revealed that Aunt Annie and I are trying to raise funds to defray the cost of paying our property taxes for this upcoming year.

I’ve tried to not whack y’all over the head with this one, but we’re in a tricky situation right now.

Aunt Annie and I make “subsistence wages”–i.e. we make just enough money to pay our bills, but every dollar that comes in the door goes out the door despite our relatively spartan lifestyle.

That’s what happens when we have to live on AA’s Social Security and my very meager wages as a State of Michigan-employed caregiver, and that’s okay, but the property taxes make our situation particularly complicated.

We’ve had to get very, very creative in trying to remain in our home, and last year, AA had to melt down her heirloom jewelry to get the property taxes paid.

This year, we have no jewelry left, so we’re asking for your help in remaining here. We’ve asked family and friends for help, but it’s time to ask again whether you might be able to assist.

Ideally, you’ll look at our situation and make some sort of small to medium donation; if you can’t help, we kindly ask that you share the fundraiser, because about 5% of the folks who have viewed the fundraiser have been able to assist us, so we’re looking to get as many “views” as possible given that we’re going to need to raise another $1,000 or so by September 1st.

If you want to donate via a different method, I have PayPal and Venmo accounts, and if you wish to send a paper check, email me at rtxg@yahoo.com, and I’ll send you my address.

As always, thank you for reading, and thank you for your support.
