The University of Massachusetts posted a press release in which it’s revealed that both Red Wings prospects Larry Keenan and Owen Mehlenbacher have been named “Hockey East 2025-2026 All-Academic Team” members:
Twenty-one Massachusetts hockey student-athletes have been named to the Hockey East 2025-26 Men’s All-Academic Team, the league office announced recently. The Minutemen were among 218 student-athletes across Hockey East that achieved a grade point average of 3.0 or better in each academic period during which they were actively competing.
Graduating senior defensemen Owen Murray and Kennedy O’Connor were both recognized for the fourth time in their careers, earning Distinguished Scholar status. Three more Minutemen—junior forward Bo Cosman, junior goaltender Michael Hrabal and junior goaltender Jackson Irving—were three-time honorees.
UMass had 10 individuals earn All-Academic distinction for the second time in their careers: sophomore defenseman, Francesco Dell’Elce, sophomore forward James Duerr, sophomore forward Cam Dunn, sophomore forward Daniel Jencko, sophomore defenseman Larry Keenan, sophomore defenseman Charlie Lieberman, junior forward Jack Musa, sophomore goaltender James Norton, junior forward Cam O’Neill and senior defenseman Lucas Ölvestad.
Freshman forward Jack Galanek, freshman forward Justin Kerr, freshman forward Lukáš Klecka, freshman forward A.J. Lacroix, sophomore forward Owen Mehlenbacher and freshman forward Elias Zimmerman were all first-time honorees.
