Red Wings-Capitals preseason quick take: It’s a winning Tweetcap!

The Detroit Red Wings won a 5-2 preseason decision over the Washington Capitals on Saturday night, pushing their preseason record to 2-and-1.

The Red Wings will host the Chicago Blackhawks on Sunday evening (7 PM, NBC Sports Chicago only), kicking off a slate of 5 preseason games played over the course of 7 crazy nights (Tuesday @ Chicago, Wednesday @ Pittsburgh and Thursday @ Toronto) punctuated by the preseason finale against Toronto next Saturday night (7 PM on Bally Sports Detroit).

Austin Czarnik opened the scoring 7:19 into the 1st, from Cross Hanas:

Moritz Seider slithered a point shot through traffic to make it 2-0 at 13:12 of the 1st, on the power play, from Lucas Raymond and Robby Fabbri, who would leave the game in the 2nd period with an upper-body injury:

2:46 into the 2nd period, Dylan Larkin scored another power play marker on the right side goal line, from Alex DeBrincat and Raymond, making it 3-0:

On a power play of their own, Dylan Strome made it 3-1 at 8:47 of the 2nd…

And Cross Hanas restored the 2-goal lead, pushing the game to 4-1 at 13:20, from Andrew Copp and the impressive Nate Danielson:

Matthew Phillips made it 4-2 at 15:00 of the 2nd, from Strome, scoring on Michael Hutchinson…

But the Red Wings’ captain scored his second of the game some 5:43 into the 3rd, from DeBrincat and Justin Holl, making it 5-2…

And the game was punctuated with a sort-of-kind-of fight between Marco Kasper and Anthony Mantha:

The game ended with a shootout whose only goal came from Larkin, and the Red Wings ended the night down a man in Fabbri.
