My name is George Malik, and I'm the Malik Report's editor/blogger/poster. I have been blogging about the Red Wings since 2006, when MLive hired me to work their SlapShots blog, and I joined Kukla's Korner in 2011 as The Malik Report.
I'm starting The Malik Report as a stand-alone site, hoping that having my readers fund the website is indeed the way to go to build a better community and create better content.

I’m a former programmer and editor from B/R, SI and The Athletic, and I really like what you’re doing with The Malik Report. I’m working for a startup backed by DraftKings and we’re looking to support independent journalists. I wanted to know if you had 15-30 minutes to talk about joining our network of publishing partners, where we’re looking to offer up contextualized props (simple copy and paste WP shortcode) that:
1. Live in the middle of articles
2. Get shared via SMS text messaging
3. Direct traffic back to your site: Users make more picks with a link back to the original article
4. Tap into our affiliate offering ($200/signup via DraftKings and/or Points Bet – we kick 50% of that back to you guys)
5. CPM – we are sifting through brands right now, targeting a $3-5 CPM
6. Syndication: We are bringing on B/R’s former employee of the year in December, we will be offering up our publisher portfolio for B/R, News Break, and Apple News syndication
7. Gamification: Contests and sponsored leaderboards
Like I said, we’re backed by DraftKings, 100% free to use, and we’re targeting quality independent/mid-tier sites to work with. We’re live right now. We have about 30 sites so far in our portfolio (MMA Junkie, NBA Analysis, Five Reasons Sports) and we’d love to work with you.
