Jontan Berggren dekes and dangles for a highlight reel goal

Credit to The Athletic’s Corey Pronman and Hockey Webcast’s Robert Soderlind for spotting this deke-and-dangle move by Jonatan Berggren during Champions’ League play today:

ChampionsHockeyLeague.com’s Liam Thomas reports that the goal played a major role in Skelleftea AIK’s win over GKS Tychy:

Numbers didn’t lie in this game for a Skellefteå side who put 54 shots on the goal of Kamil Lewartowski. The scoreboard did for a brief moment, however, after Jakub Witecki fired home a backdoor effort with just 90 seconds of hockey played to put the visitors one up. The home side responded with an equaliser just before the break to level the game before the wheels of their attacking unit started rolling. Two goals in the first 10 minutes of the second reflected Skellefteå’s efforts more accurately, including the latter goal by Jonathan Berggren which put the icing on the cake. The forward skilfully completed a trio of dekes after bamboozling a Tychy defenceman twice before calmly putting the puck through the five-hole.

Berggren is only about 5’10” and 170 pounds, but he’s a sneaky little bugger. Here’s the full highlight:

Berggren will play for Skelleftea’s SHL team this season; on Thursday, he played 13:53, finishing at +1 with 3 shots, a 33% faceoff percentage and a blocked shot.
