It’s a YouTube afternoon for the Red Wings, Griffins, AWood40 and U.S. NTDP

Of video-related note this afternoon:

  1. The Red Wings posted a video recapping the World Championship…

2. And today, the Wings recapped the bicycle giveaway that the organization and Chevrolet conducted earlier this week…

3. As well as a video noting that Little Caesars Arena was named SportsBusiness Journal’s Sports Facility of the Year:

 4. The Grand Rapids Griffins posted an “honor roll” video, recapping some of this past year’s achievements by Griffins players and alumni:

5. AWood40 posted a clip of Andreas Athanasiou’s 2017-18 goals…

6. And if you’re interested, USA Hockey posted a pair of videos recapping the seasons of their Under-17 and Under-18 teams:

I have been blogging about the Red Wings since 2006, when MLive hired me to work their SlapShots blog, and I joined Kukla's Korner in 2011 as The Malik Report. I'm starting The Malik Report as a stand-alone site, hoping that having my readers fund the website is indeed the way to go to build a better community and create better content.

  1. Oh man I love that nutmeg goal against the Rangers. That’s beauty. Bert’s patience on his pass to AA is something not expected out of someone so young, great vision, poise and timing. And I have to point out Abbey’s great control of a bouncing puck from Kronner to get it back to AA for the tap in. I believe it’s little things like that which contribute to Abbey’s contract (he is very underrated as a passer). Finally, I’d like to point out that AA scored three break away goals on his forehand and two on his backhand. So much for me thinking he’s a one trick pony. I might be floating into the AA supporters camp.

    Free Andreas.

    1. You may be the first person to say Abby is UNDER-rated as a passer. Which is cool. But I happen to think he’s terrible at it. So many passes in people’s feet or bouncing, rolling pucks that are hard to handle.

The player who I always thought was under-rated at passing was Holmstrom. He’d win a puck battle and often zip it to Pav or Zee or back to the point. Hard. Tape-to-tape. But like I said, it’s cool if you think Abby is under-rated 🙂

      1. I had a feeling that would be the one thing you would comment on. Thanks for being predictable.

        1. Grr, just keep letting FS follow you around like a lost puppy. I can tell you were and are committed to not going into long drawn out battles with him. It’s appreciated.

  2. P.S. I miss being able to catch up with this content during lunch at work. My new building is a deadzone!
