Tweets from practice, catch-up version: Tatar, Abdelkader take ‘maintenance days’; Green game-time decision Sat; Kronwall gets a ‘cane’

Updated at 2:10 PM: Okay, I was at the doctor’s office, so I missed the majority of today’s Red Wings practice. Let’s see what happened:

Per MLive’s Ansar Khan…

The Free Press’s Helene St. James…

And DetroitRedWings.com’s Dana Wakiji:

#RedWings Zetterberg is practicing today.

While #RedWings Zetterberg and Green are practicing, Abdelkader and Tatar are not.

#RedWings Mantha May have a facial fracture, going for second opinion, but will be able to play with the full face shield.

#RedWings Blashill said both Tatar and Abdelkader were maintenance days and expects both to be ready to play tomorrow. Mike Green skated today and will be a game-time decision.

MLive’s Khan continued…

Tomas Tatar not practicing today. He was shaken on in OT last night, hit during his breakaway, and was hurting on the bench. But he returned for a shift. #RedWings

Abdelkader also not practicing for #RedWings

Anthony Mantha said he thinks he has a facial fracture from getting hit with pick last night. Will have tests today but said he won’t miss any games regardless. Will continue wearing face shield. #RedWings

Blashill said Tatar and Abdelkader took maintenance days and are expected to play tomorrow vs. @NHLCanes at @LCArena_Detroit Green felt better today and will be a game-time decision. #RedWings

Blashill wouldn’t reveal goaltending plans for the weekend, whether Jared Coreau will start one of the games. Howard almost certainly will start Sunday at @NYRangers because he plays well at MSG. He might play both games. #RedWings

St. James continued…

Mantha going for tests on left cheekbone later, hit by puck yesterday. Will play regardless, but probably with a face shield.

The Red Wings weighed in…

As did the Detroit News’s Ted Kulfan:

Mantha will go for tests today, may have facial fracture after taking puck to face last night..would still play with shield

Blashill was confident both Tatar and Abdelkader would play tomorrow, just maintenance days….wouldn’t commit to goaltending, but did sound like Howard could play both games #RedWings

And in the gag department:

He blamed it on Tatar.
