That’s a hell of a leap of faith by Edvinsson and his agent in Europe, Peter Werner, who told Expressen’s Gunnar Nordstrom that the pair are “patiently waiting for the new general manager” earlier this summer.

Defenseman Simon Edvinsson intends to report to Detroit Red Wings training camp next week even if he doesn’t have a contract in place.

“That’s the plan right now; still need to get his visa finalized this week,” J.P. Barry, Edvinsson’s agent, said on Tuesday.
