Red Wings lose 5-2 to the St. Louis Blues at the 2021 prospect tournament

The Detroit Red Wings lost a hard one, dropping a 5-2 decision to the St. Louis Blues at the Red Wings’ 2021 prospect tournament on Saturday night.

The Wings also lost Jonatan Berggren to injury after he took a hard hit behind the Blues’ net in the first period. He got up funny, finished the period, but did not return.

Sebastian Cossa gave up 5 goals on 30 shots against; Lucas Raymond (unassisted, and from Joe Veleno and Jared McIsaac) scored for Detroit.

    Cossa. No surprise, he will probably be a very good Goalie, High Ceiling for talent,,,lost me,, 19 Hot Games in WHL. Keep working hard..in Silence, please! Lots of years ahead!

    Detroit Red Wings prospect Sebastian Cossa isn’t exactly invoking the how to win friends gameplan at the Canadian world junior summer training camp in Calgary.

    Netminder Cossa, who was the first goaltender taken in the 2021 NHL entry draft when the Red Wings selected him 15th overall, was talking up a storm during Monday’s workout, even chirping his own teammate Dylan Guenther after the latter hit the crossbar during a post-practice shootout attempt against Cossa.

    “Right away,” Cossa admitted to TSN. “I let him know right away. Obviously a lot of bragging rights coming my way there.”

    Afterwards, Guenther was left admitting to mixed emotions about taking a trash talking from his teammate.

    “He chirps the other team, the other goalie and really has no mercy,” Guenther, Cossa’s WHL teammate with the Edmonton Oil Kings, told TSN. “It’s good that he is confident, but it definitely gets on some nerves when he’s chirping in practice.”
    Always Getting A Word In

    Cossa proudly acknowledges that he’s a world class trash talker, always ready, willling and able to add his two cents to any situation.

    “”“I’m not afraid to throw a chrip around and I definitely stand my own ground,” Cossa said following his selection by the Wings. “I don’t get bullied out there for sure.”

    He even took a bit of a swipe at current Wings goalie Alex Nedeljkovic, recenly inked to a two-year contract by Detroit.

    “I want to be a top goalie in this league,” Cossa said. “Whoever they sign today, in a couple years down the road, I don’t think it’ll matter.”””

    What a JERK!!!! I will stay with that as he will never change.
