Fun times in familial medical land

Everybody,

I had hoped to make my return in short order, but my family is experiencing some health complications that require me to focus on taking care of the mom for now.

Mom’s dealing with a health issue that requires some extra imaging (next week) and then a biopsy (soon after) before we know what we are battling.

While I’m finally starting to feel (ab)normal again, the next two-to-three weeks will determine how much of 2019 I spend blogging from medical facilities.

So, for the next two-to-three weeks, I’m going to be ferrying mom back and forth to Beaumont in Royal Oak as we figure out what the New Year will bring.

No “thoughts and prayers” needed yet. The aunt insists that the mom and I focus on “one thing at a time,” so right now, we’re worried about getting to Thursday’s imaging appointment, and then we’ll worry about the rest.

After that, in the words of noted philosopher Spike Spiegel, “Whatever happens, happens,” and part of that not-too-distant future will involve me blogging again.

  1. Open hearts and seasons’ warmth to you and your family, George. Best of luck and we’ll see you when it’s time.

  2. This is a bad time of year to have medical issues. I have been battling a bad respiratory infection caused, no doubt, by all the crud we have laying about the community from the hurricane. While, I am now merely feeling sick, we have had to modify our usual celebration of the Lord’s birth. I am a bit perplexed by my main gift from Dear Wife, though. Adult bibs implies I am a messy eater.

Anyway, George, take care of Mom and keep getting better. Things like this have to take priority and you obviously get that.

    Good luck, Doc.

  3. GM, I’m very happy to see you check in; been thinking about you a lot lately as I’ve been going through some issues myself. Take care of yourself and family but don’t forget about us – we definitely are thinking of you.

  4. Glad to see this post – though helping out a parent facing serious health care needs is obviously difficult (I can relate) there are very few if any more important reponsibilities in life. And it’s no surprise at all to read that you’ve got your priorities straight. Your family is lucky to have you.

Wishing you all the best, and seeing more in depth coverage of the Wings here will be great, too, when your time and focus allow.
