Khan discusses developmental curves for the Wings’ top prospects

This morning, MLive’s Ansar Khan examines the Red Wings’ top prospects, attempting to estimate when Michael Rasmussen, Evgeny Svechnikov, Filip Hronek, Dennis Cholowski, David Pope, Libor Sulak, Givani Smith, Filip Larsson and Vili Saarijarvi will be ready to arrive in the NHL:

  1. I would love to see all of them up. I’d swap Hicketts with Hronek and hopefully we could add Bouchard, Hughes or Dobson to that list. I’d say Boqvist as well but I’m thinking he’s 2 to 3 yrs away. Crazy talent but not ready yet.

  2. Was Saarijarvi’s first pro season really that “bumpy” (per Khan) ?

Ten AHL assists isn’t that shabby for a guy who played a lot of games in Toledo as well.

And I seem to remember a couple of articles, including one from the Athletic in which Saarijarvi being relegated to the ECHL was questioned. Toledo is a good organization, but unless a guy is struggling at the AHL level, or other prospects are clearly in his way, ice time in AHL makes more sense.

I’ll stop making this comment as it’s beginning to bore me, but the organ-i-zation really needs to create a little more room on the blueline in GR. And Detroit. Possibly waiving Ouellet to the AHL does not really help!

    Exactly.
Wings should not re-sign Green, move Kronwall to LTIR, Trade Daly.
Let these kids try and make their mark or fail. Yes, it would be nice to get rid of Ericsson, Dekeyser and a few others, but they are not movable as we all know. I like Daly, but we don’t need him, a better team does.

If this is a true “REBUILD” I believe most GM’s would do as such or something similar. But it seems Kenny cannot move away from the Hope this team can compete for a playoff spot and he is still not in true rebuild mode, but still entrenched in this Rebuild On The Fly BS.

It seems the Wings want their cake and eat it too, but only thing there going to end up doing is prolonging the Process of the rebuild, IMHO.
