22 years ago, Steve Yzerman scored an OT goal of legendary proportions

I’m not usually a .gif poster, but a very important goal was scored today, as noted by the Red Wings’ Twitter account:

  1. This was before my time of hockey-watching, but still one of the most iconic goals ever, period. I’ve seen it enough that it feels as much a part of my memories as any Datsyuk goal, or Larionov’s Triple OT goal in the 02 finals

    1. I remember feeling like this game was going to go to the Blues in overtime. In real time, that turn over by Gretzke felt innocuous and Stevie’s shot more like a hard dump in and not a shot on goal.

      1. We all make spelling mistakes, but I feel like Gretzky is a big one to get wrong.

Anyway, this was a fantastic goal. It’s a shame we were eliminated less than 2 weeks later. Fedorov was a beast against Colorado…but not enough from the supporting cast.

Sorry, is this Hockey Talk? I can’t tell. You are mentioning a hockey player, but not really talking about hockey.

Nevermind. I’m done with this. Next.
