HSJ, Khan: Jared Coreau clears waivers, heads to Grand Rapids

Per the Free Press’s Helene St. James and MLive’s Ansar Khan, Jared Coreau has cleared waivers, and he will return to the AHL’s Grand Rapids Griffins, where he will probably serve as the Griffins’ playoff starter:

  1. Remember when HSJ predicted that the Wings might protect Coreau in the expansion draft, you know, since his size and career path had all those similarities to Ben Bishop? Oh well. She’s good for a laugh every couple days…

    1. I remember that. I also remember people having some hope for Coreau too. That’s not a bad thing.

    2. HSJ is disliked in this Red Wing household, as usual. Coreau has some intriguing skill set and personality. He did progress a bit but in reality he would have had to stand on his head (that would be quite a picture, LOL). His speed just never made it to the NHL level. He can be a shut down keeper at the AHL level. A goalie either has it or he doesn’t. He can’t be sitting on the bench and having minimal ice time (Blashill is now confused). They play the whole game or get the Hook.

      Hope he has a Great run for GR in the playoffs. A good Guy!!
